Research is showing that eating eggs is good for losing weight. Men and women who ate a bagel breakfast compared to men and women who ate two eggs for breakfast on a low calorie diet lost up to 65 percent more weight , and their BMI was reduced up to 61 percent. Other benefits reported by them was that they had higher energy levels than the bagel eaters. People who have a hard time sticking to diets because they get hungry can eat eggs . What is the Most Expensive Chocolate?

There's a huge variety of chocolate in the world, from the humble Hershey's bar to high end, exotic chocolaty delights made by experienced chocolatiers. To many people, the colorfully wrapped chocolate bars you see in most stores aren't worth bothering with - they have a low cocoa content, and sometimes they aren't even legally called chocolate. That's what's going on if you see a candy bar described as a "chocolate confection" or covered in a "chocolaty coating". There's chocolate in there, but not much. Who really wants chocolate that is not chocolate? Not me that is for sure.

For those who believe that life's too short to eat cheap chocolate, there's a wide variety of high end products available. Unlike ordinary candy, they don't use inexpensive ingredients made for maximum shelf life. They're going for taste and quality, and using the best ingredients they can find.

However, that results in a very expensive product. High end chocolate can go for more than seventy-five dollars a pound - in some cases a lot more. Here are the most expensive chocolates the world has to offer. If you have the money you will not be sorry for treating yourself to real chocolate like these.

Chocopologie - Made by Knipschildy Chocolatier, founded in 1999, this incredibly expensive chocolate costs around two thousand, six hundred dollars per pound. A single dark chocolate truffle costs two hundred fifty dollars, and has a real black French truffle - the mushroom - inside.

They're available only be pre-order, and are made entirely of Valrhona cacao - seventy percent per bar. This is blended into a ganache using real truffle oil, then the truffle itself is hand rolled, with the dark French truffle inside, and dusted with high quality cocoa powder.

Noka Vintages Collection - At more than eight hundred fifty dollars per pound, Noka chocolate is expensive, but also known as some of the finest dark chocolate around. It's sourced from specific plantations in Ecuador, Cote d'Ivoire, Venezuela and Trinidad. The Vintages collection is made of single origin cacao (coming from just one plantation), which makes up seventy-five percent of the bar. Other ingredients include sugar and cacao butter. No emulsifiers are used, and the commonly included vanilla flavor is omitted to give fans pure enjoyment of the chocolate.

Delafee - Delafee's chocolates cost around five hundred dollars a pound, making them less expensive than Chocopologie or the Vintages Collection, but not by much. These sparkling chocolates include edible gold, hand applied to each individual chocolate. Vanilla, coconut oil, milk powder, sugar and cocoa butter are included as well.

Godiva's G Collection - This well known Belgian chocolatier's G collection includes many different flavors, and costs one hundred twenty dollars per pound. Those flavors include Tasmanian Honey, Mexican Hot Chocolate and Palet d'Or, amony others.

Richart - Also at one hundred twenty dollars a pound, Richart chocolate is made from seventy percent Venezualen Criollo cocoa, some of the best in the world. Its mild flavor is paired with high quality spices, raspberries, almonds and more, and the cocoa is ground as finely as possible.

What to Do If You Don't Like the Taste of Cottage Cheese

If you don't like the taste of cottage cheese, you're not alone. The mere thought of eating it plain makes many people retch, myself included. However it can't be denied that it is a really good source of protein, especially the slow digesting casein variety. It's also a great source of calcium if you don't like drinking milk. Many people that are trying to lose weight or that lift weights have an increased demand for protein intake in their daily diet, so getting protein from any source they can is vital to them. For that reason, it's not a smart thing to give up entirely on a source of protein just because they don't like the taste of it.

The key to eating cottage cheese if you don't like the taste of it, is to simply mask the taste! This is actually a very easy thing to do, contrary to what you might think because of the way it smells. It smells like it has a really strong taste and that you'd need really powerful foods to mask it's flavor. The reality is that cottage cheese has a very weak flavor and many things can be used to overpower it.

One of the simplest ways to make cottage cheese edible, is to mix it with yogurt! This is incredibly easy, because yogurt comes prepackaged in small single serving containers, and it comes in a large variety of different flavors! These small yogurt containers come in flavors ranging from apple turnover to key lime pie to vanilla and everything in between. All you need to do is have some sort of bowl or empty container to eat out of, pour in the cottage cheese, and then open up your yogurt container and empty it in. Grab a spoon and stir it all up till it's nice and blended, and then enjoy! You won't taste the cottage cheese at all, you'll just get the flavor of your yogurt!

The next way is a bit more involved, but can taste extremely well. It's more involved because it involves using fresh fruit. You'll just need to get a nice sized portion of whatever your favorite fruit is and remove any stems, seeds, or skins you don't want. Place the cottage cheese in a blender, put your fruit in next and then blend it together until it's smooth. I personally recommend fresh strawberries, cherries, or blueberries.

If neither of those options sound good to you, or you just want to switch it up a bit, my last suggestion is a little sticky. Mix your cottage cheese with some good honey, and sprinkle a generous amount of cinnamon over it, then mix it all up of course. This makes a really sweet taste, but in my opinion is not as good as the previous two methods. Still, it's all up to our individual tastes and this might be the best way for you!

You don't have to give up this great food if you don't like its taste. Try one of the methods above, and I bet you'll agree that you can't taste the cottage cheese at all!

Winter Wedding Arrangements: Edible Fruit Bouquets for Your Reception Centerpieces

Reception centerpieces are an extremely important decision for every bride. The table centerpiece is by far the easiest way to incorporate a theme and a personal touch into your wedding arrangements. Flowers and candles are two of the most commonly used items for centerpieces but flowers are not only more traditional and conventional, they're also more expensive. The more you try and find a unique centerpiece made of flowers, the more you're going to end up paying for expensive blooms and stalks.

A new trending centerpiece that you can buy for your wedding reception is edible fruit arrangements. Candy in candy dishes is what people usually put out when they want edible centerpieces for wedding tables but fruit bouquets can work better and add a classy look to the table.

There are different ways of using an edible fruit arrangement; if you want to use it on the head table you can place a big one in the middle and two smaller ones on the sides. The best thing about fruit bouquets is that you can easily find them in different sizes. The design stays the same but the size variation allows you to place the same arrangement on tables of different sizes.

You can use the fruit centerpieces to number tables as well; add table numbers on the fruit bouquets by ordering an edible number with each bouquet. It's a unique way to help guests find their table and it's an imaginative way to organize them. You can have the bouquet themes changed by picking a container of your choice.

Fresh fruit bouquets are a unique wedding centerpiece idea for your wedding arrangements. Serve ordinary fruit in an extraordinary way; fresh fruit arrangements and fruit bouquets are unique centerpieces for wedding tables.

What to Eat to Get Abs - Even Superman Needs the Right Fuel

The benefits of eating right will give you the body that you desire, make you happier and healthier, promote a longer, higher quality life and will leave you feeling fantastic every day. In this article I will dive into the best ways to quickly alter your diet for good and give you a few tips on what foods are great for shedding excess body fat.

It is a fact that if you are not eating the right foods, then you will never get the abs and the body that you want to create for yourself. You will never feel as well as somebody who eats the right diet. You will not even get optimal every day performance on sub-standard food i.e. work, relaxing, sleeping.

When we eat over processed food, our bodies can not handle it. Humans (and all other living creatures) were designed to eat naturally occurring product. If you doubt me then, please, feel free to tell me where supermarkets and mass produced canned goods were hidden in the cavemen days and who the hot dog guy was at fights in the Flavian Amphitheatre that is the Colosseum.

We have all heard it from our first day at school, eat 5+ a day of fruit and vegetables, the food pyramid, drink plenty of water and exercise. But back then it was all about eating competitions and skiving off school right? The paradox is that school cafeterias or canteens are also serving stuff that will make you fat. So who do we listen to?

Well it is known amongst fitness circles that the best diet to burn excess body fat is a mostly natural diet of fruit, vegetables, grains, legumes, proteins and water. This is the kind of diet that champions are built on! I can never picture myself going back to a diet of unhealthy food such as meat pies, baked goods, soda, sweets, cakes, white bread, canned goods and other crap that is known as edible these days.

I remember within the first few days of undertaking a new diet I felt an incredible surge of power and energy, bouncing out of bed in the mornings, always wanting to talk to people, always wanting to workout (yes some over training occurred, however bad people say over training is, at least it shows that you are enthusiastic!) and just generally feeling like a million dollars.

Now I understand why Romans fought lions, they felt unstoppable (and maybe a bit of peer pressure from a sharp spear)!

I feel that the best way possible to create this new diet is to start a generous act and take all the food that you know is not optimal to building abs, and go give it away to those in need. Then go shopping knowing that the next time you step into that supermarket you will be feeling better, looking younger, sexier and fitter!

Purchase mostly natural goods with the exception of whole grain breads and possibly a few other treats if you feel life would be a misery without them, it is better to take 90% action toward a good diet than going 100% and dropping out after a few days.

Stack the trolley with organic fruit and vegetables, free range eggs, whole grain breads, low sugar/fat sauces, oats, organic milk and dairy products, lean meats and if you can afford it, a bit of protein powder (no worry if you can't, it may just speed your results up a little bit).

Congratulations if you have read this far, perhaps you will be one of the very small percent of people who will take the advice shown here and actually get a sexy, younger looking body, is it any wonder that the world is in an obesity pandemic?

So many people are looking for information on weight loss, but sadly they are looking for something from Never never land what will carve them into super model status overnight, the sad fact is that most of these people will die overweight, and possibly that will be a contributing factor to their early demise.

Don't let yourself be overweight any longer.

World Travel, Volunteering and the Journey to Raw Vegan

In this article, Happy Oasis shares on world travel, volunteering and her journey to raw vegan. Happy Oasis is a raw food inspiration, an author and the "Chief Visionary Officer" of the Raw Spirit Festival.

Kevin: Just kind of like a personal question from me, how do you manage to get from place to place if you are volunteering, how does it work out? Because I know there are a lot of people who want to volunteer, who want to travel. How have you done it? What's the secret?

Happy: That's a great question. Since I was 12, I was on a panel yesterday at the Vibrant Living Festival, at the age of 12 I became entrepreneur because I decided that I would wish for a pony and to pay for the pony, I started to teach riding lessons. I barely knew how to ride myself, but it's that entrepreneurial spirit that has landed me in dozens of various entrepreneurial activities. For example, I was up in the foothills of the Himalayas and I was boarding a train in India and I said to this man, "What are these in these crates?" He said, "Oh these are avocados." But he said it in a different language and I realized it was avocados. I said, "Can I buy all your crates?" He said, "Certainly." So I bought them all and I took them to Goa, which was the hippy market. I sold them for several times more than I had purchased them. Just little things like that helped as fundraisers. So that raised funds for me for few months then I could go on volunteering.

I taught English in Bangkok for about a year, total, and instead of teaching in schools, I went to the tallest buildings in Bangkok, when I was 19, and I went straight to the CEOs and taught the management staff.. They so appreciated it that they said instead of paying $5 an hour, which is what they would do at a school, that they would pay me for each person. So it ended up being a significant amount of money so I only had to work for an hour or two. Anybody can do these things. It's just having a slightly different perspective. Then that funded me for a year by doing that for many months. And then I also live at monasteries.

So the main way that I cut down on expenses is that, when I was 16, I received a scholarship to Tasmania, a full scholarship and I worked and traveled and studied and represented America at Hobart Matriculation College. And during my summers off, my weekends, I was a hiking guide, they call it a trekking guide. On one of our first treks, there was a woman who came to our camp in the middle of the night, we were singing around the fire. She approached and she had a big backpack on and she was from Germany and we said, "Come join us." I started interviewing her. I said, "Tell me about yourself." She said, "Well, I have been traveling for four years." I said, "Four years?" I was 16 years old. "How do you travel for four years?" She said, "Well, I was a bank teller," I think she said, "and I saved up some money for about three years, but this is what I did. I didn't drink." She said, "I don't drink alcohol. I don't buy ever buy any kind of drinks, even soda pop, juices. I only drink water at restaurants. Secondly, I am vegetarian." Thirdly, she doesn't go out dancing. She doesn't go to bars. She also doesn't rent movies. She goes to libraries instead of bookshops. So she had all these frugal habits that she taught me at the ripe age of 16 and so I adopted hose habits immediately. Not only that but she said she camps and she doesn't spend money on hotels. I started sleeping outside and realizing if I can bring a tent or sleep under the stars. She said to me, "What's the point of having a hotel where you are not enjoying it anyway because you are sleeping?" Those are some of the ways.

I ended up having this sort of monastic lifestyle of sleeping anywhere. I slept around, but not in that traditional way. [laughter] Then I would go to farmers markets and then I thought, what's the next step of frugality? I would like to pick my own fruit. So I picked fruit everywhere I went. I would ask farmers. I would ask orchardists, "Could I help you, relieve you of all this fruit? They were on the ground and in your trees?" And they would almost always say yes. And there's all these wild, edible plants. So I became an intuitive wild edible plant person. And then as far as window shopping, I had this rule that if I can't carry it on my back, I can't have it. So when I would window shop, I literally would just look at things and then realize the whole world belongs to all of us. All the riches in India and all the riches around the world are everybody's to enjoy to see, to look at, to perceive and then we walk on to the next adventure. Life has been a seasonal adventure for me. I spent many, many years living out of a backpack with minimal possessions.

Kevin: How does raw food fit into that for you? Do you do it for experience or how does raw food fit?

Happy: Well, the beauty of raw fruit in this lifestyle is that it's as easy as picking a piece of fruit from the tree. There is no wood stove. There is no camp stove. People go backpacking and I always had this advantage, I always had five less pounds than those people because I didn't have fuel for a wood stove or cooking stove. Then also the availability and the wild plants. So basically, I'm very comfortable just foraging. But the beauty of it, especially for this disposition and my constitution, is even though I was unusually physically strong for my age, size and gender, I had a weak immune system and I probably still do today if I would go back to the SAD diet, the Standard American Diet.

I was raised, like most of us, on hot dogs and Twinkies and Ho-Hos and PopTarts and Captain Crunch and Coca Cola for breakfast sometimes, basically no fresh fruit or vegetables, very, very rare. Our oranges came out of a can. Our spinach was brown, it came out of the can. I was a survivor. God bless our parents, that whole generation. Who knew? Nobody knew. Everybody was told that this was the way to live. So now a lot of people are coming out of that. So what that did to my immune system is it was a bit tragic. So I became a raw vegetarian after a long research, decades of investigation as to what was wrong with my system.

I discovered vegetarianism when I was a teenager and then became a vegan when I was about 30, so about 15 years ago. The way that happened is I was living in a Buddhist monastery in the jungles of Thailand and my dear friend, who is younger but so wise, she is a PhD now living in Singapore with some tribal people, she said to me that milk is unnatural for human diet and of course we had a great debate back and forth. That night, I went to sleep with the thought of milk is unnatural. How can that be? And I woke up in the middle of the night and I had somehow become attuned to a past life 50,000 years. I was living in a cave and I was sort of Neanderthal like, but post because Neanderthals were before then, and I was coming out on all four legs and I was hungry and maybe a little grumpy. I looked through the shrubbery and there was a wild cow, very much like the wild cows that still remain only in Africa today. I saw the cow and I thought, "Milk." So I started running after the cow, myself on four legs, the cow on four legs, and then I lunged for her teats. And I started milking her teats, and I realized my goodness, it's just like a woman, like from our species. And I woke up feeling very strange. And feeling that that is so unnatural. I've never had dairy products again.

And then that day I went to the health food store and I started seeing women with those machines. Like, as cows have the metal machines on their six breasts or whatever, I saw the checkout woman with this machine, in my minds eye. And I thought that is so bizarre, it is incredibly unnatural for one species to steal milk from the mother who's producing milk for her baby. It's not only unethical, but it is just, it's just bizarre. And so that kind of cured that aspect for me.

And then with cooked foods I would note that every time I lived with tribal people who tended to eat more fresh food and more wild foods that I never had health problems. And I always thought it's like that because I feel so loved and I feel so like safe in nature. But then I'd go back to the city and I'd go to a ashram and I'd feel loved or I'd feel safe but I would get sick. And at these ashrams they would serve a lot of cooked foods. And it would be vegetarian, but it was a debilitating vegetarian diet versus a wild edible diet, wild raw, more raw diet, in the hinterlands of these countries. And so then after yoyo-ing, as we tend to ping-pong for a while until we figure it out, I realized just stay with the raw vegan.

And then what happened is, just at the time when I was figuring it out, somebody gave me three books. Viktoras Kulvinskas' "Survival into the 21st Century," Gabriel Cousens' "Rainbow diet," and David Wolfe's "Nature's First Law." And I read those three books within the same month and I just, their arguments were so colorful, so hilarious, genius, and convincing, that I decided, "That's it I'm going to try the raw vegan."

Why Treats Could Be Harming Your Dog

We all love our dogs. They make great companions, and one of the ways you can express this is through the joy of food. But this article isn't about the love you have for your dog, or indeed the way dogs enjoy the food you give them. Instead, the following article is going to be centered around the eventual counterproductiveness of giving your dogs too many treats.

Firstly, there are affects it has to the behaviour of your dog. Treats are by their very nature a reward for your dog. They're nice tasting, sweet and the fact that they're not given as often as other edibles means that they are something to be savoured. This is all well and good when you're using treats as an effective method of incentivising particular traits and behaviours within obedience training. But when you over use treats, their significance loses meaning in the dog's eye. You're effectively treating them for doing nothing, which at the very least will cause them to mistake their social standing in the household.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, over treating your dog can lead to weight issues that have serious impacts on the quality of life of your dog. Often, the treats that we do give to our dogs are quite calorie intensive, and therefore need to be balanced out by a lot of exercise so that your dog doesn't put on weight. Failing to moderate the treats you give your dog and not balancing the treats you do give with exercise can lead to heart problems, arthritis and diabetes within dogs.

Lastly, but by no means least, is the subject of chocolate. It tastes so good to us that it must be a treat to your dog, right? Chocolate does in fact have the potential to be incredibly harmful if consumed by our canine friends. It has been known to trigger allergic reactions that actually result in death. Make sure, by all means, that you never leave chocolate around for your dog to eat, or there could be serious health issues that arise.

What is Network Marketing?

Network Marketing is another form of direct marketing. It is primarily more concerned with the organization of a sales network than with the sale itself.

The networker mostly starts to build up its own business before helping then other business partners to build their own, similar to a franchisor.

In difference to franchising where only one company opens new branches, in Network Marketing each independent business owner can open new network businesses, but with low financial investigations and without risk.

A networker undertakes the task to organize the network, to get paid for the sales qualified for bonus within that branch network.

Another feature of Network Marketing is to build up an transnational business by sponsoring international partners. Especially in Europe, Network Marketing represents one of the best examples how to make use of a single European market place.

A report from Prof. Dr. Michael Zacharias, University Worms, in 1996 has shown, that the total revenue in Germany made in Network Marketing is still very low (approx. 300 million EUR p.a.), but it will be fast-paced.

In the Ukraine the market has just started (Nov. 2003), and the market in Russia will start 2004 too. So in these countries we will see incredible and surpassing business growth in the next years. If you are from the Ukraine or Russia, or you know people from there, then you can directly benefit from it. You can offer them an opportunity to build their own business.

This was just an example, there are more exciting success stories from other countries as well, e.g. Sweden, Korea etc., and the opportunity is identical in all supported countries.

In Europe the Network Marketing business is still in its infancy. Only 0.7% of trading are currently made with Network Marketing.

So this distribution channel has a huge potential for growth in future all over the world.

The Three Pillars of Success in Network Marketing are:

1) Residual Income

2) Leverage (of Time and Money)

3) Duplication

Network Marketing, 'MLM', and Multi Level Marketing are all terms that refer to the same type of business model. While many close-minded people outside the industry (and others who've tried it and failed), have biased or negative wrong impressions, and despite the fact that it is used and abused by many crooks and con-artists, this business model has exceptional performance potential.

There are bad apples in every bunch, and this industry has more than it's share. But it can produce outstanding results if you know how to find the right company. And to maximize your potential, there are a few simple concepts whose understanding is critical to your success.

Unlike franchises or conventional businesses, Network Marketing, MLM, and Multilevel Marketing are the only business models that take advantage of all three of the important, yet misunderstood principles of:

Passive Residual Income - Leverage - and Geometric Growth.

And the combination of all three of these elements is what gives the Network Marketing business model it's synergy and exceptional performance potential. In fact one outstanding company I'm aware of has actually built designed synergy into their business model.

Whether it's a franchise or conventional business, both require major investments of time and money, and special skills if you hope to be really successful. Even the relatively small percentage who achieve true success usually take years just to break even.

On the other hand, with the advent and popularity of the Internet and the rampant quest to "Get Rich Quick for Doing Nothing", many people have gotten all excited about affiliate, associate, referral, or co-op programs as they are sometimes called. But very few of the thousands of these being promoted have any real chance of making any significant money for the vast majority of people who get involved.

A perfect example is an email that was recently received from one of these programs who claim to be 'the best'. They bragged that they were paying "over $400,000 in commissions each month!" and have "now grown to over 650,000 affiliates!"

Those are interesting statistics some might get excited about. Let's see... if they're true... They're paying an 'average' of $.61 per affiliate... That's sixty one cents ! Wow! How would you like to retire on that?!

They claim later in their letter that some are making $10,000 a month. If that's true, then to come up with an 'average' of sixty one cents each, the vast majority have to be making absolutely nothing.

There is a much better way to achieve your dreams!

But you have to:

1) Take the time to understand these three critical principles -

PASSIVE RESIDUAL INCOME - LEVERAGE - GEOMETRIC GROWTH

Then...

2) LEARN TO ASK THREE SIMPLE QUESTIONS! - so you can teach what you know to others.

If you're even moderately successful in networking, you undoubtedly understand and believe in the three principles above. If you haven't yet had the success you desire, you may not completely understand these principles, or how to get them across to others. Highly successful networkers have learned how to ask the right questions, then help others understand and take advantage of these important and powerful concepts.

Unfortunately these principles are not well understood by the majority of the population. And that's just one reason why so many fail at network marketing. There are lots of other reasons, and it would take a book to cover them all. But this is one of the more common ones. Because if you don't understand or believe in these principles, it's impossible to help others fully comprehend and appreciate them.

Let's face it, our educational system trains (or brainwashes) us to be conformists, to do what others tell us to do, and to prepare for a JOB, not an entrepreneurial business opportunity. So those of us who crave our independence and freedom, head in that direction in spite of our education, rarely because of it.

And even though many people claim they'd like to be their own boss or own their own business, only a small percentage of the population possess the necessary desire for success to risk stepping out of their 'comfort zones' to pursue their dreams.

Most people are afraid of failure, and for them it may be better and easier to live life in a rut. Others are satisfied or even happy with their jobs, incomes, or lifestyles, and that's great for them. But if you're one of millions who yearn for more freedom and control in your life, you must understand the following three principles to achieve True Success in Network Marketing.

1) RESIDUAL INCOME:

Residual income is recurring income that continues to come to you long after the work you've done to produce it has ended. There are lots of ways to produce residual income. But many people don't understand it. Others have never thought about or been exposed to it. And unfortunately, many ways of producing it are out of reach for 'average' people.

Successful authors, actors, musicians, and insurance agents are some of the more familiar avocations that produce residual income. Probably the simplest and best example of passive residual income is interest earned on money in the bank or other investments. It gets paid or credited to you without you having to invest any more time to produce it.

Using the "virtual millionaire" concept I will explain below, if you had a million dollars in the bank earning 6% interest, that would produce about $60,000 of annual income (before taxes). So if you have any source of passive residual income producing $60,000 or more a year, you are a "virtual millionaire".

And with the right business, that can be much easier to accomplish than trying to overcome all the roadblocks to accumulating a million dollars in the bank. Instead of Uncle Sam fighting you all the way (taxing all your income), he actually becomes an active partner by giving you all kinds of tax breaks and incentives to succeed.

There are only two sources of money:

1) PEOPLE AT WORK, and 2) MONEY AT WORK...

THAT'S IT!

The simple goal of Retirement & Financial Planning is to make sure you accumulate enough money (or income producing assets), so that when you decide or are forced to retire, it will produce enough PASSIVE RESIDUAL INCOME for you to enjoy the lifestyle you choose for as long as you live.

The same concept holds true in Network Marketing. But Leverage, and Duplication or Geometric Progression, can help you build it much faster in the RIGHT Network Marketing program.

One of the first questions I often asks prospects is:

"If you had the choice of doing a job and earning $500 once, or getting paid $100/mo for the rest of your life, which would you choose?"

You'd be surprised at how many answer $500! These people either, 1) are not good prospects or, 2) need some education. That question is one quick and simple way to pre-qualify people. Those who don't understand that principle may never achieve their true potential.

Obviously $100/mo. will surpass a 'one time' $500 relatively quickly. And if it lasts for a few years, or better yet - the rest of your life - it will really be a blessing. Producing enough passive residual income can make you a VIRTUAL MILLIONAIRE in a relatively short time, compared to working for someone else and scrimping and saving for 30 - 40 years.

A VIRTUAL MILLIONAIRE is someone who has enough money coming in every month, WHETHER THEY WORK OR NOT, to support the lifestyle THEY CHOOSE, for as long as they live. It's also nice to have something SIGNIFICANT to pass on to your heirs or favorite charity.

But like everything else in life, even residual income has a downside. The biggest one is, just like compound interest or geometric progression, it normally takes a little time for the magic to start working. The POWER and BEAUTY of residual income is on the back-end, not the front!

Many people have a hard time understanding this FACT and mistakenly chase false promises of quick or easy money. That's why there will always be crooks and con artists in the world pitching "get rich quick and easy". Successful people ignore them. Naive or greedy people usually get burned.

Residual income is NOT about "get rich quick", even though with the right opportunity it's possible to produce a small fortune in a relatively short time.

If you're especially talented or have the time and money to invest, you may have some success in less than a year. And many people do. But without a major investment of time or money it takes most 'typical' people a year or two of part time work to generate a decent income, and another year or two to really hit the big time. But achieving success with 2 - 4 years of part-time effort beats the widely accepted 'standard' plan of slaving 20 - 40 years working for someone else to make them wealthy!

Most people who fail at network marketing either choose the wrong company or just give up too soon and quit because they expect INSTANT results. But because the real beauty of residual income is on the back end, not the front, once you build it you have the financial security and time freedom to do anything you want the rest of your life!

The RIGHT network marketing opportunity allows anyone, with no prior experience, special skills, or large capital outlay, to build long term, passive residual income. If you don't know how to choose the right opportunity, I can help.

A critical component to building long term residual income is offering high quality, high demand, value-priced, 'consumable' products or services that people use and re-order month after month.

Because of this simple fact, the top industry in Network Marketing by any measurable standard is Nutritional Supplements and Personal Care products. Some people refuse to consider this industry because they don't take supplements themselves or don't understand the 'Big Picture' and successful business model of this industry.

Do you think Burger King and McDonald franchise owners invest hundreds of thousands of dollars because they like to eat fast food burgers? Not hardly! They understand human nature and trends in society. We're a convenience oriented society, and a large part of the population would rather eat low cost convenience food, even if we know it's not good for us.

But there's also a booming trend toward improving your health, improving your life, and developing personal and time freedom. Many 'opportunity seekers' completely miss or ignore these trends in society. If your business is in front of multiple long term trends, you dramatically increase your chances for success.

I'm not saying it's not important to believe in and use your own products, because it is! But for true success you have to recognize major trends in society, and your products or opportunity must meet ALL the highlighted criteria above - high quality, high demand, value-priced, and 'consumable'. (And in this case, 'consumable' does not necessarily mean just 'edible'. It means used and/or re-ordered on a regular basis.)

And with the right business the rewards can be much more than just financial. It's hard to put a price tag on the goose bumps you feel or tears that come to your eyes sometimes when someone thanks you profusely for introducing them to a product that has had a major impact on their health, their life, or their financial situation.

Unfortunately some people never grasp the importance of this additional benefit. Most good people want to feel they are doing something worthwhile with their life. And it's not just about making money, even though many narrow-minded or greedy people will try to convince you it is. It's also about helping others. And doing both, can make the right business doubly rewarding.

But your business also has to have profit potential. Some 'price-based' products or services have lots of competition and limited profit potential. If you choose a business like that you have to do a lot more volume and it's hard to build loyalty, which is an important element in producing long term passive residual income.

2) LEVERAGE:

Every successful person or business (in or out of Network Marketing) takes advantage of leverage. There's only 24 hours in a day! And no matter how talented you are or how much you get paid per hour, if you don't take advantage of leverage you're limited by the number of hours in a day. By learning to leverage your time, you can also benefit from a percentage of other people's efforts, and dramatically increase your income and freedom.

If you're reading this article on the Internet (on my website or someone else's), or in a magazine, that's one simple example of leverage. I don't have to be physically present to teach you something. I may be sleeping, or vacationing on the other side of the world while you are learning or sharing this information.

Unfortunately in most traditional businesses, the only ones who benefit from leverage are the owners or stockholders. The loyal, hard-working employees do most of the work. The unique and wonderful thing about the Network Marketing business model, is that everyone has the same opportunity to become the 'owner' of their own business - with a fraction of the investment of time and money of a traditional business or franchise.

And instead of worrying about training people to become your competitors, in network marketing the people at the top have a vested interest in helping others on their team succeed.

Again, the question I ask prospects here is:

"If you had the choice to receive 100% of one person's efforts, or 5% of 100 peoples', which would you choose?"

And again, if they answer 100%, either: 1) they're not a good prospect or, 2) they need a remedial math class or additional education.

Many talented people would rather just depend on themselves, and have difficulty grasping the importance of this concept.

Obviously 100% of one is always only one. But 5% of 100 is five. That's a 500% increase and is significant! And with synergy, sometimes it can be even more!

Not only will the total result with leverage almost always be a lot more, but your income is not dependent on only one person. If it is, and that person gets sick or injured, disabled, dies, quits working, or decides to go on a long vacation, your income could stop!

But if your income is produced by the activities of many, it is much more dependable. Even if something unexpected or negative happens to one or more of those people, it only has a minor effect on the total production. That's what allows people who understand and take advantage of this to live the lifestyle they choose or get paid while on extended vacations.

It's great to get paid while you're on vacation or doing other things you love! That's one of the many advantages of leveraging your time, and is just one of many reasons so many high income professionals from all walks of life are flocking to get involved in Network Marketing.

Many professionals who make great incomes, get frustrated at the 'bottom line' after putting in long hours just to cover overhead and miscellaneous expenses. No matter how much you earn per hour, if you don't learn to leverage your time, your earnings will always be limited by the number of hours you can work in a day. And nobody wants to work 24 hours! But even with a small network marketing organization, you can produce equivalent results to working 24 hours a day, with a fraction of the individual effort.

Learning to leverage your time (and money) is an important step toward gaining Financial Independence and Time freedom.

3) DUPLICATION:

The best illustration I've seen of duplication is the penny-a-day example. It's also frequently used to illustrate the benefits of tax free compound interest.

If you start with one penny, and double it every day 30 days, how much will you have at the end of 30 days?

If you haven't heard this before or don't remember, go ahead and take a guess. Day two you'd have 2 cents; day three you'd have 4 cents, then 8, 16, and so on. How much at the end of 30 days?

I've never had anyone who hadn't heard this before come close. So don't feel bad if you don't, and I promise not to laugh. Ready? Did you pick a number?

Would you believe over FIVE MILLION DOLLARS?! ($5,368,708 to be exact!) That's right! Most people don't believe it until they punch it out on a calculator. And even then it's sometimes hard to fathom. But it's true. Isn't that amazing?

That's a simple illustration of how networking can work. If I can teach you, I've doubled myself. If we each teach someone else, we've doubled again. And as this goes on and on it can produce amazing results in a relatively short period of time, just like the penny example.

The easier your program is to do and the lower the cost to get involved, the more people you can appeal to and the more potential for geometric progression to work. Programs that are too complicated or expensive for 'average' people to do will always hinder your growth.

Great salespeople can succeed at almost anything they apply themselves to. But not many people have the talents, skills, or desire to be great salespeople. IT'S NOT DUPLICATABLE!

The Network Marking business model is about a lot of average people doing a little, not a few talented people doing a lot.

While lower cost of entry can be an advantage, many programs that are 'free', don't offer any real potential for significant income, and often attract people who aren't willing to work to build their business. So REALISTIC INCOME PRODUCING POWER is an important area to consider.

Joining a 'downline club' or any other program that promises any variation of - "we'll do everything for you" - will never produce significant LONG TERM passive residual income, because the majority of people who join are looking for a free ride or are too lazy to build anything significant. None of these programs have ever worked long term and none ever will. It's a simple fact of life successful networkers accept early on.

The penny a day example is a great model for illustration, but in 'real life' it never works exactly like that. Some people never recruit anyone, and others find 10 - 20 - 30 or more. It helps to understand human nature, and an IMPORTANT, but little known reality called REVERSE GEOMETRIC GROWTH.

Despite the fact it rarely works in reality like it's illustrated on paper, the principle of duplication is still one of the THREE PILLARS TO SUCCESS with the RIGHT Network Marketing Business Opportunity. With the RIGHT business and these POWERFUL PRINCIPLES, even average people who are willing to work and to learn can achieve their dreams. And above average people may exceed their greatest expectations.

If you can UNDERSTAND and BELIEVE IN those three principles, and find the RIGHT company, you will succeed in Network Marketing. If you're willing to TEACH these THREE principles to a few others, the results might just amaze you!

The beauty of Network Marketing is that you can get started with very little investment of time or money, and no major changes in your present lifestyle. Eventually, passive residual income can give you the FREEDOM to live the lifestyle YOU CHOOSE, and pursue and enjoy your dreams - whatever they are!

I read somewhere that, "according to IRS statistics, in 1984 20% of NEW millionaires came from Network Marketing. By 1994 it was 50%. It's predicted that by 2004, 70 - 80% of NEW millionaires will come from the booming Network Marketing industry." I don't really believe those statistics. But no matter what the percentages are, certainly many new millionaires are created every year in the Network Marketing industry.

Many positive CHANGES have been made in the industry, and several simultaneous MEGA-TRENDS help make this the best time ever to get involved! The time to start is NOW! But it's important to pick the RIGHT company and industry!

IF YOU UNDERSTAND:

1) The IMPORTANCE of 'CONSUMABLE PRODUCTS' ... 2) The REASONS for the popularity of the Nutritional Supplement Industry... 3) The importance of high quality, high demand, value-priced, products...

YOU'RE MUCH MORE LIKELY TO HAVE ABOVE AVERAGE SUCCESS!

Successful Network Marketing offers many benefits: Passive Residual Income - No Boss - No Commute - No Dress Code - Income Tax Reduction - More TIME for kids, family, hobbies, or whatever is important to you - Above Average Income - and much more.

If I had to sum it up in one word it would be FREEDOM! - Freedom to work as much or as little as you want, to come and go as you please, and to spend more time doing whatever is important to you. Once you experience this FREEDOM, you'll wonder how you ever lived any other way!

There's no free lunch though. It's like riding a bike. If I asked, "Would you rather ride a bike uphill or downhill?" most normal people would say, "down." But in order to coast down the hill, you first have to ride your bike up. Once you start, you may find yourself enjoying the exercise and additional benefits of improving your strength, endurance, and health. The same is true in this business. You have to 'climb the hill' (learn the business) before you can 'coast'. Many people learn to enjoy the process of becoming better people, helping others, and improving much more than just the financial part of their lives.

There are many routes to the top of the hill. Some people choose to take a gradual incline and may take a little longer to get there. Others prefer the direct route, and choose to pedal directly up the steepest side. The beauty is, the choice is yours. We can show you the routes, and you decide what's best for you. We'll be there to encourage and guide you every inch of the way.

Best wishes for True Success and a HAPPY, HEALTHY, PRODUCTIVE LIFE!

You Quit Smoking! Hurray! Now Tackle the Weight Gain

It takes a lot of will power to finally quit smoking. There's a lot of information available on how to do this. And scary information on the health issues to help you kick the habit. You deserve a lot of credit and a big pat on the back for doing it.

But did I hear you say that now you have another problem? Weight Gain! How did this happen? And more importantly, how do you tackle this Weight Gain? Did you just exchange one unhealthy habit for another?

Let's take a look at why weight gain is often the next problem for smokers who quit.

Reaching for a cigarette, cigar or pipe was often a distraction technique. It showed up when you're bored, or when you needed to temporarily put your mind into a 'hold pattern'. If you were taking a smoke break, you didn't have to tackle the next problem on your desk or you could delay just about anything from doing the dishes, fixing the car, mowing the lawn. Are you now just using food to as the next distraction technique?
Smoking a cigarette, cigar, or pipe kept your hands busy. You had to hold on to the thing most of the time. So what do you do with your hands now? Some people feel they don't know what to do with their hands when they quit smoking. So your new answer or habit has been to busy your hands by bringing food to your mouth instead of a cigarette, cigar or pipe.
·And those taste buds in your mouth. They have started to really get active again, haven't they? And you like re-experiencing taste - those Incredible Edibles.

Okay, so what do you do now? If you've had the willpower and strength to quit smoking, to eliminate nicotine from your life, you can overcome these new weight-gaining habits too.

Time to start getting rid of these newly acquired weight-gaining habits you've developed, allowing you to lose the extra weight they've packed on you. Time to show this new weight-gaining habit that you can get control over it too. Time to tackle this weight gain!

Look in your kitchen cupboards, refrigerator and freezer and get rid of finger food and anything that is high in calories and is not the best health choice for you. Many times we eat for the same reason that we smoked; i.e., boredom, hand to mouth pattern, to feel calm and relaxed. Sound familiar? So, get rid of anything that you eat with your hands. Many high calorie snack foods are finger foods. You can still eat fresh fruit with your hands but eliminate chips, ice cream bars, and candy.
Practice some relaxing, stretching exercises. Nervous energy sometimes caused you to smoke and is now causing you to eat. Take some meditation classes. Play some relaxing music. Put on your headphones, close your eyes, and imagine you are some place else. Imagine you are any place that would be uplifting to your spirits and allow you to relax.
To find out why you are eating and what time of day, get tablet or writing journal and start keeping a food journal. Not a journal for counting calories but a journal to see why you need to eat every time you eat. Record your regular meal times too. Record how hungry you were and use a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being starving to death to show how hungry you were. If it was a regular meal, just say that. It was mealtime. If it was because you were jumpy and passing the floor, looking for something to do and you just settled on eating to calm you down, say that. Write down whatever you were feeling. When you go back and start reading your written words about why you're eating, you can address the nervousness, boredom, or whatever it is that is causing you to take in more calories than you need.

Of course, weight loss tips, exercising, creating balanced meals are also important. Choose the diet and exercise plan that is right for you. But looking for the why's is important too to break the habit. Soon a new, slim you will be back in balance emotionally and physically.

You Have to Eat, So Plan Ahead

How many times have you been blazing through your day and all of a sudden you feel like you are trudging through quicksand in the fog? Then you stop for a second and notice your stomach has a death-grip on you and growling like the lions during feeding time at the zoo - you then realize you have not eaten all day. It is so common for people to get caught-up in the hustle and bustle of the day and forget to fuel their body.

It is a strange common occurrence if you think about it for a moment... How often do you see someone out of gas standing on the side of the road? Not very often, right? The reason is, cars have a gas gauge that warns the driver when they are low on gas and the driver knows that in order to continue on, he or she must stop and put gas in the car. We all know we need gas in the car in order to get from point A to point B. Why then do we ignore the warning signs of running out of fuel our body sends us of hunger and fatigue and just keep going? The most common reason I hear is there just isn't time to stop to get something to eat.

If you want to be healthy and continue to make it through your day, you have to make time. With a little planning, you can have the time to eat and you will find you have more energy throughout the day enabling you to be more productive and happier along the way.

The first thing you need to do is make a trip to the grocery store with a list of some easy to prepare and pack snacks. The next thing you may need to do is set an alarm that goes off every three to four hours reminding you to eat. Your small snacks do not have to take much time out of your day, but do take the time to taste and appreciate your healthy food choices.

Suggestions for fueling the body on the go:

Veggies: Purchase big bags of baby carrots, celery, radishes, and snap peas and when you get home separate the veggies into smaller individual baggies you can easily slip into your bag before work.

Cheese & crackers: If you are a cheese and crackers fan, then you might consider packing a single serving of wheat crackers with a string cheese or a wedge of Laughing Cow Cheese that packs a lot of flavor into a 35-calorie creamy wedge.

Chocolate Lover: If you love chocolate, Jell-O Fat-Free Pudding Snacks are a handy option because you can satisfy your craving with one indulgent 65 calorie serving.

Incredible Edible Egg: A food that has been getting a bad rap for years is the egg. Get over it because eggs are good for you. Eggs are a good source of iron and protein and one medium hard-boiled egg delivers a host of essential vitamins and just 81 calories.

Go Nuts: A small bag with 10 almonds will give you a satisfying 100-calorie snack that is high in Vitamin E and rich in Monounsaturated Fat, which is the "good" fat that helps in lowering LDL Cholesterol. Walnuts are an excellent source of Omega-3 fatty acids and they also help lower cholesterol.

Fruit and Fiber: Food high in fiber helps to fill you up and keep you feeling full longer. Some options here might include individual sized popcorn, an apple, banana, pear or orange.

Food is to your body as coal is to the old-fashioned steam engine. You need to add small amounts of fuel to the fire (or food to your body) every three to four hours to keep it running smooth and efficiently. If you keep up with the small, frequent meals, within a short time you will begin to notice positive changes to your overall health. Your digestion will improve; your energy level will increase as well as your mental clarity.

It takes no time to fail and just a little time to prepare for success.

Being a Coach allows me to combine my passion for helping people and years of healthy living into a successful business. I personally know the challenges of staying healthy, fit and happy. I have always been curvy and proportioned, but keeping my weight down has been a struggle for me. I have had several periods in my life in which I was in great shape, but without keeping up high-intensity I would start to gain it back and I'd give up. Most recently I lost 19 inches and felt great! Then with a demanding work travel schedule I gained back 12 of those inches. I had enough and decided to get back to working out and my daughter introduced me to Turbo Jam - it was love at first workout! I have since lost those 12 inches and have moved into the ChaLEAN Extreme 90-Day workout system. I can't wait to workout each day and I'm feeling great! Joining the Team Beachbody community was absolutely the right choice for me. It is such a powerful combination of products and tools, not to mention a great group of people who all share the same goals and make up the best support system ever. Wild Edibles and Their Benefits

Here in the U.K most of us tend to avoid nettles like the plague but in reality these are some of the most useful and versatile plants around. In places like Holland, England and many other European countries these 'weeds' grow rife in woodland areas and will come back year after year with a vengeance if the roots below ground level are kept in place. In hotter climates it's not as freely available and many cultivate them especially. Nettles have been written about in sacred texts for thousands of years informing coming generations of its incredible health benefits and vast nutritional values.

Proven to aid low and high blood sugar levels by balancing them to neutral and even known to help people with joint problems such as arthritis, this has a sting that can be cured immediately by using its leaves own juice. On the market now there is even a variety that is grown especially for consumption, without spikes! Either way a good blending will get rid of all spikes and can be drunk in a juice, as a tea or even a wine! Nettles can be just as easily used in your families daily diet giving all of the vitamins they need that the body is designed to process unlike the tablets you see in the shops!

It's recommended that you eat the younger shoots as this is where most of the energy is concentrated and will pack the biggest punch. Eaten raw, the leaves can be rolled up in a wafer shape so all of the stinging hairs are pointing up and away from you. There may be a slight sting in your mouth but the sting will be counteracted by the juices almost immediately. There are plenty of plantsmen and botanists out there who are championing Nettles as the benefits are endless. As a gardener and designer myself I very much appreciate plants and their abilities to help us physically and mentally and would love to see more people embrace the benefits that stare us in the face.

Why You Are Fat, and What You Can Do About it - The Solution May Surprise You

By now, everybody is aware of the huge problem obesity has become in western civilization. Over sixty percent of adult Americans are fat. And with being fat comes and endless list of other problems, too numerous to go into detail in this short article. Suffice it to say that being fat causes a lot more problems than having to shop at the big and tall store.

Did we always have a problem with our weight? Of course not. A hundred years ago, most people were slim, and in pretty good shape. It was only the rare individual that had weight problem.

Of course, on obvious reason is the amount of physical exercise that most of us get. Back in the day, people had to work pretty hard just to make a living. There was no need for gyms or fitness clubs. Today, most of us can make a living without ever breaking a sweat.

One more difference is the actual stuff we put in our mouths on a daily basis. A hundred years or so ago, most people cooked every day, and when they did, it was with stuff that was fresh. Usually bough that same day at the local grocery store.

Of course, in today's busy world, you can't even take a couple steps without running into a vast array of choices for the kind of food to eat. Frozen, processed, mass produced. Most of the food you find in your supermarket is mass produced and loaded with chemicals. Even those that cook every day will find it difficult to avoid processed and chemical laden foods.

And eating out is just as bad, or even worse. Most restaurants buy their food in bulk, meaning it, too, is loaded with preservatives to keep it edible for the longest time possible.

And fast food is in a category all by itself. It's no secret that some of the chemicals used by some of these fast food restaurants could have developed by mad scientists. Who really needs to keep french fries fresh for twenty years?

We are surrounded by so many horrible food choices its a miracle we aren't' even fatter than we already are. And eating processed, chemically laden food has the strange effect of making you want to eat more of it. It's almost like they planned it that way.

Another thing that most people aren't aware of is that by eating all these chemically laced foods, you are doing terrible harm to your digestive system. Many people don't know that most of us have parasites living in our intestines. And despite how hard you try to lose weight, no matter how much you exercise and diet, these parasites can make it virtually impossible.

The good news is that when you purge yourself of these parasites, you will be pleasantly surprised. Many find that it can become incredible easy once you figure out just how to do this. You can actually get a normal, slim, life back.

What Plants Should You Use when Making a Terrarium?

Here is a list and some tips on choosing plants to make a successful and beautiful terrarium.

The ideal plants for a terrarium are small hardy plants that require only moderate sunlight and don't grow at all. And before you start selecting plants for your terrarium you have to have a good idea about how you will make your terrarium. Ask yourself two questions before purchasing plants: How big will the terrarium be and how much sunlight will it get? From these answers you will dramatically improve your chances of selecting the right plants for your project.

Most plants will do very well in a terrarium so you don't have to worry too much about selection as far as health and hardiness goes. What you really have to consider is the growth of the plants and the aesthetic look of the plants.

The Aesthetics of the Plants or how they look together

Choose plants of different heights and leaf shapes and choose some plants with a splash of color. Your plants should compliment each other in that they give a nice variety. If all the plants are similar it makes for an uninteresting arrangement. When shopping for plants you should place them side by side in little arrangements to get a feel for how they will look in the same dish or bowl. Look for variety in height, leaf shape and color. When I am shopping for plants I also look for multiple plants in the same pot. It affords me the ability to break them up and spread them out in interesting arrangements.

The Growth of the Plants

This can be a bit tricky and all plants will grow if given the opportunity. But many plants will grow slowly or not at all and still thrive if they are potted and given only moderate amounts of sunlight and water. Here are some plants that do well in a terrarium:

Palm Neanthe Bella - Low light and grows slowly and is very hardy
Swedish Ivy - Very durable low care plant
Bird Nest Sansivieria - Extremely hardy
Irish moss - Makes nice groundcover
Croton - Come in many bright colors but need a lot of light
Pothos - Medium Light , nice shaped leaves
Pitcher Plant - Carnivorous and has a nice exotic look
Butterwort - Also carnivorous
Miniature African violets - Adds nice color
Cactus - High sunlight and sandy soil
Aglaonema (Chinese evergreen) - Extremely hardy plant
Aspidistra (Cast iron plant) - As the name implies this is a very durable plant
Herbs - Have a nice added function of being edible (Don't hesitate to use herbs like parsley, mint, chives, oregano or others in your terrarium. They tend to be hardy, stay small and often add a little bit of a nice aroma.)
When making a terrarium plant selection is not too much of a worry because most of the typical plants you will find in a greenhouse or home improvement store have been selected for their hardiness. Consider more how they will look together and how much they will grow.

Yes! You Can be a Food Gourmet and a Skilled Gourmet Cook Too

Yes, even you can cook up wonderful meals and impress your loved ones!

Ever thought that gourmet cooking is not for you, or that you do not cook well? Then it's time to totally change your mindset from today...

Anyone and everyone can easily pick up cooking skills; younger or older, ladies and even the guys. It doesn't matter what your skill level is today; you can do much better and make great dishes like the chefs at your favorite restaurants. And what's more, the meals you cook will be done to perfection - your kind of perfection. And you know what the best part is? You already have the most important ingredient... you know what great food is!

Let's show you the way... experimental cooking is putting YOU in charge - you're the boss of the kitchen! You choose the ingredients you like and whip up meals to suit your specific tastes. Forget about strictly following recipes that are complicated... that requires you to buy special ingredients you will only use once then store till they expire... that calls for you to measure out precise amounts of each ingredient. All that is required is for you to have fun and experiment with blending ingredients that you like. Let your imagination rule... pick the items and create your masterpiece; from types of meats and vegetables, to how they are cooked, to what beautiful arrangement on your dinner plate. experimental cooking is also about you and the people you are preparing a meal for. You know that each person has their unique preferences, so experimental cooking is about helping you fulfill those preferences. Sounds complicated, you may think? But actually, it is rather simple; especially after you develop the basics that will forever change your mindset on cooking and open up a whole new dimension of creativity you never knew you already had within yourself.

Now let us share with you the little secrets of experimental cooking... the A, B, Cs if you will...

A. INGREDIENTS - The first key is for you to build on your knowledge of ingredients, as they are the basic building blocks for a good meal. You already know of many ingredients, now go and take a closer look; experience each ingredient individually and experiment with it. Everything edible can be an ingredient in your creation, so you need to know and understand each ingredient; from how it looks and tastes, to its texture, to how it behaves when cooked in different ways, to which other ingredients it is compatible with, to what happens if you add more or less of it to your food, etc. Since individuals experience things differently, you are your own expert; find out what you like and what you can do without. As you have your meals each day, take the opportunity to study the ingredients. Involve your family & friends and make it fun as you experience & experiment. At restaurants, and when you travel, question the chefs if you have a chance and gain perspectives into new ingredients you come across. For the computer savvy, you can also surf the web and quickly gain insight; there is tons of information online. Try typing the ingredient you're interested in on your favorite search engine and discover a wealth of knowledge at your fingertips. As you get to know about more ingredients and become more aware of the characteristics of each ingredient, you will be able to expertly combine them to expand the number of new dishes in your cooking repertoire. There are endless combinations, so keep experimenting; you will discover many winners to surprise your guests. Have fun building up your own database of ingredients.

B. QUALITY - When you begin with great quality ingredients, you are certain to produce top quality meals; if you start with poor quality ingredients, it won't come as a surprise that the results will naturally be disappointing. Quality can easily be determined when you use all your senses... Use your sense of Sight to look carefully at the ingredients. Check the color to see if it is bright or dull, consistent or has blemishes. Is the shape evenly symmetrical or distorted. Look also at the texture of the items. Your sense of Sight is the first sense that you will usually use when checking anything; and it is a powerful tool in determining the Quality of any ingredient. Practice and see if you can tell what the Quality of an item is, just by looking at it. You will quickly be able to use your Sight to initially screen ingredients to determine if they are worth a closer inspection or to move on. Use your sense of Hearing to listen to the tone when gently tapping or shaking an item. Does it sound hollow or solid, is there a rattling sound? Hearing is not frequently used, but can be helpful in a closer inspection of certain fruits, nuts and vegetables. Use your sense of Smell to sniff out fragrant fruits and the aroma of fresh herbs. You can also detect items to avoid when they emit off smelling odors. Train up your nose and your sense of Smell will come in handy when you search for Quality foods. If you have the opportunity, sample the items before making your decision. Besides checking that the Taste is what it should be, also observe the texture or feel it has in your mouth, when you chew on it, and when it slides down your throat. This is also your chance to confirm that you really like the Taste of the ingredient before buying. Your sense of Taste will be your most important tool when it comes to blending ingredients. With a well developed sense of Taste, you will be able to determine what ingredients, and in what quantities, will go well together. Finally is your sense of Touch. Go ahead, pick up and handle the ingredients you are inspecting. How does it feel in your hands? Is it heavy or light, hard or soft, firm or supple, smooth or rough, dry or moist? You can tell a good deal about the Quality of an ingredient by how it feels; you just need a little practice to fine tune and "get the feel" of things. Practice using all your senses to fully examine ingredients and learn how to pick Top Quality items for your specific needs. It is now time for you to exercise your senses whenever you go shopping for food. Have a good time tuning up your skills in search of Quality at the markets and stores.

C. DESIGNING - Now comes the fun part of Designing your meals. The first consideration is who you are cooking for and what are their likes and dislikes. Do take some time to ask your family, friends, or guests about their eating preferences, especially if they require special diets for health reasons, or are allergic to certain foods. From this mini survey, you can plan a meal that will delight everyone.

You can now begin to narrow down your choices; consider if you want to do appetizers and/or soup, what are the best choice for your main courses, and if you wish to make desert? Design a simple meal or an elaborate feast: it's all up to you. Use your knowledge of ingredients to decide on what blend of ingredients will achieve the unique flavors you want. Also consider how the ingredients will look together, and how you can make your dishes visually appealing. At the beginning, you may feel more comfortable sticking to traditional flavors and cooking tried and tested recipes. But as you gain confidence after experimenting with traditional foods by altering their taste to suit your preferences better, then its time to be bold and creative; try to design something totally new once in a while. It is also fairly easy for you to design meals to take into account differing preferences among your guests; simply separate your ingredients and add or withhold them into individual portions of your dishes. In the Design phase, you may wish to consider the cooking style as well, since the way food is cooked will make a difference in the outcome in terms of taste and texture.

D. COOKING STYLES - Mastering many Cooking Styles is another way to increase the diversity of your meals. Brush up on your cooking skills by not only practicing the various Styles of Cooking, but also by paying close attention to the details of the cooking process, what each Cooking Style does to your food and the resulting appearance, taste & texture. experiment with variations to the standard method (different temperature, time, sequence, combinations, etc.) and observe the results. Learn new Styles as you come across them, and also try your hand at inventing new ways to cook. There are many methods of cooking your food; some more conventional like Baking, Barbecuing, Braising, Roasting, Stewing and Steaming. Some are more exotic like cooking meat on a slab of hot stone. So do try out the various cooking styles on your favorite foods and discover which are to your liking. Also experiment with combinations; for example you can first steam a lobster, then cut it open and put some cheese in before grilling for a short while to melt and brown the cheese sauce. Think of new ways to cook, after all its just applying heat to food. You can also broaden your knowledge and skills by observing how people of various lands cook their meals in special ways when you travel.

E. PRESENTATION - The final element is how you serve up the feast that you have prepared. Food Presentation is the art of making your meals visually appealing. Since the objective is to serve up something that will look good, experiment with what you think will look nice when assembled together. If you want to keep it simple, just focus on the dish and what is to be put on it. If you want to pull out all the stops, then go with a theme of your choice and dress up everything, including the dining room. Let's run through some ideas to move you along... On the simple end of the scale, all you need to do is select a suitable bowl or plate and arrange your food on it, then add something to garnish. The easiest is to place all your food onto serving plates for your guest to help themselves. Select large enough bowls and plates, matching if desired, that can hold the amount of food you have prepared. You can fill a serving bowl with soup and sprinkle some chopped spring onions on top to garnish. Fish can be served on an oval plate, or one of those fish shaped dishes, and you can arrange some lettuce and round slices of lemon to decorate. For prawns, try arranging them in a circle on a round plate, and put sauce for dipping right in the center. You can be more creative when you do individual servings. For the main course, you can simply lay out the meat, potatoes and vegetables on different sectors of the plate in a traditional manner; just remember to include ingredients with nice colors and arrange them in your chosen pattern. Try using carrots or tomatoes to add bright orange or red to your dish. Use corn, pasta or potatoes for a dose of yellow. How about tri-color pasta to really mix up the colors? Appetizers and deserts are my favorites as you can really let your imagination go... and come up with really delightful creations. Try using a Burgundy wine glass for your shrimp cocktail, then plant a stick of celery with the leafy end up on one side and garnish the lip of the glass with a circular slice of lemon for a lovely presentation of this favorite appetizer. Now go forth and create visual masterpieces to serve your guests; they will surely be astonished at your work of art. If you need more ideas, you can always look at how the chefs at your local restaurants present their dishes, or you can flip through food magazines, or surf the internet for tons of ideas to get you on your way.

Now that you know the Secrets to experimental cooking, all you need to do is to start cooking; after all, as the saying goes... "Practice Makes Perfect".
